INTRODUCING PIMEGA

Large-Area X-Ray Detectors for Big Discoveries PIMEGA is a family of large-area hybrid-pixel detectors based on Medipix3RX technology developed at CERN, delivering noise-free, direct X-ray detection with single-photon-counting capability and high detection efficiency.

Designed as modular detectors with versatile geometries, PIMEGA addresses the most demanding high-performance X-ray applications at synchrotron light sources.

Developed jointly with CNPEM and successfully deployed across multiple beamlines at Sirius — Brazil's fourth-generation synchrotron light source — PIMEGA combines large active areas, high resolution, and high frame rates in a single platform.

Technology

PIMEGA and RAD photon-counting detector systems are built on Medipix3RX technology developed at CERN. PITEC also offers custom solutions on either the Medipix3RX or Timepix2 platform, tailored to specific customer requirements.

Sensors Options

PIMEGA detectors are available with semiconductor sensors matched to the application's energy range:

Sensor thickness options: 500, 675, or 1000 µm.
